Athy Gymnastics Club are delighted to be able to welcome our members back to the club. COVID-19 has brought with it a number of challenges to the club and how we deliver our classes so as a result we need to adapt to ensure we can offer classes in a safe but fun way for our gymnasts. Below outlines some of the changes we have made and the processes which will be in place while attending Athy Gymnastics Club.
Over the past number of weeks the club has been regularly engaged with our national governing body, Gymnastics Ireland, and with their guidance we have successfully completed the Return to Sport compliance process, see details below:
Club COVID Lead
Athy Gymnastics Club has appointed Aoife as the designated Club Covid Lead (CCL). Aoife will be supported by the club committee and coaching team to ensure everyone receives the necessary training on how to manage and implement COVID-19 precautions.
Our class sizes have been reduced from over 50 gymnasts down to 25 gymnasts meaning we will now have less people in the hall to ensure we can maintain social distancing best practice. Gymnasts will be separated out by 2.5 m evenly on our gymnastics floor and will each have their own specific area on the floor which will be clearly marked. Gymnasts will be separated in groups of maximum 5 gymnasts. Each group will be allocated their own floor space and will only use one trampoline per class, trampolines will be clearly indicated by colour of safety matting.
New Class Times:
In order to reduce the class sizes to cater for social distancing, we have made a number of changes to our class timetable. Please see details below, we would ask that you familiarise yourself with these new times and ensure that you arrive at the correct times. Due to the class limitations we can only offer a class change if there is a place available and the gymnast is ready to move on to the next level.
|Friday Recreational||7:30pm – 8:30pm|
|Special Needs||11:00am – 11:45am|
|Junior||12:00pm – 1:00pm|
|Recreational 1||1:15pm – 2:15pm|
|Recreational 2||2:30pm – 3:30pm|
|Advanced Recreational||3:45pm – 4:45pm|
|Competitive||5:00pm – 6:30pm|
All equipment and common touch points will be cleaned and sanitised after each class. There will be a 15 min break between each class to ensure our coaches can complete a comprehensive clean and review of equipment before the next class commences.
Face Masks and Sanitising Stations:
All coaches will wear either face-masks or face shields at all times. Automatic Hand Sanitising Stations will be set up at entry and exit of the hall and all gymnasts will be encouraged regularly to use the hand sanitiser provided. We ask that all parents also stress the importance of regularly sanitising their hands while attending class.
Gymnast Self-Screening Form
All parents will be required to complete a gymnast self screening form prior to arrival at the club. This must be done before every class you attend otherwise entry to the hall will not be permitted. This form is available through the link below:
All gymnasts will enter the hall through the main double doors at the front of the hall. A designated club coach will be in place at the entry to the hall before every class. Our coaches will first check that a self-screening form has been complete for the gymnast, next the gymnast will need to sanitise their hands using the automatic sanitiser. Once these steps are completed then the gymnast may enter the hall where they will be brought to their space on the floor. Please note: Entry to the hall will only be permitted at the time of your class. Gymnasts should not enter the hall until the designated coach has given permission to do so.
All gymnasts will exit the hall by order of their class group. Gymnasts will exit the hall through the side emergency exit door (see map below). Gymnasts will only be permitted to leave on their own once they have prior parental permission. We would again ask that all parents try to arrive on time when collecting gymnasts as this will ensure swift exit and allow coaches time to prepare for the next class.
The parking bays directly outside the hall will now be closed and all parents are asked to park outside the main school building at the roundabout. This is to ensure the safety of our members and reduce the traffic level around the sport hall. We would ask that this is strictly adhered to as it is in the interest of everyone involved in Athy Gymnastics Club.
Parents/Guardians Waiting in the Hall:
To reduce the number of people in the hall during the class, parents will unfortunately not be permitted to wait in the hall or view the class going forward. Should you need to talk to a coach or manager, we would ask that you first attempt to do so by email or by prior arrangement. If the matter is urgent please limit your time in the hall to what is absolutely necessary.
We have created the below map to provide an overview of some the processes and procedures in place when we return to class. Please take the time to familiarise yourself with the specific sanitising stations and exit/entry points.
